First mobile post on desire!
Simply put, desire is the best phone that I have ever used. It hasi got every thing that I want packaged in a cool looking interface. If I really have to.come up with a downside, I guess that’d be it’s short battery life.
Why does the WoW background downloader opens with your mouse cursor pointed to the Cancel button? When you double click on the minimized icon in your system tray, you immediately cancel the download. Leading to much frustration.
The aircon that makes the room hotter instead of cooler is also getting on my nerves. I paid for a working aircon and not something that pisses me off.
Temperature in the room now, at night, is fucking 35 degrees Celsius. What the hell is going on man. Global warming at its best?

I am not entirely sure if I am comfortable with this “I will push you as far as possible” attitude.
People break eventually and things get ugly. Usually you have to know when to stop bullying people and whip out the goodies for a change. Carrot and the stick doesn’t work when you use a small carrot coupled with a huge stick. All you are going to get is just a group of people who are sick of being milked for all that they have.
And it sucks even more if things get rectified when you bitch about it. Sure, if you don’t give in people think you are unreasonable. But if you do give in, then why do you make all the others tolerate the same shit? Why have the ostrich mentality that if you bury your head in the sand, no one is going to complain? People ARE bitching about it alright, you are just trying their patience.
Don’t fuck around with people just to see how much they can take before they snap. Because when they do, chances are they will bring you down with them.

Ok I missed out on yesterday’s post once again. So much so for blogging everyday for the month of August. I think I have a backlog of at least 3 posts.
Here’s the reason for the delayed post, I was out visiting the above two mentioned scenic locations yesterday. 向陽農場 is a sun flower farm in 桃園, drove there yesterday to pay a quick visit and to take some pictures. Unfortunately the flowers were affected by a typhoon in July and weren’t fully blooming yet. Managed to take a few decent pictures though. They really need to update their website with recent pictures of the farm so visitors know what to expect.

Pretty sunflowers. You can get a bunch of them for like TWD$100 at the farm. Just pick the ones you like and cut them off with the scissors provided.

Lonely sunflower. Like I said, the typhoon stunted the growth so the view there wasn’t that spectacular.

This picture shows that I need a camera with image stabilization, the bee looks blurry.
Since I had the car, I dropped by at 淡水漁人碼頭 to check out the sunset there. Hordes of people where there taking pictures, and to think I have never been to the wharf after visiting 淡水 so many times. Pretty nice, might return there once more for some night shots, if I do get a tripod.
Look at the pretty sunset! This was taken on the 情人橋 across the wharf.

Another shot of the sunset, this time round from the side of the wharf.

I have a few food pictures as well, will try to update as soon as possible.

Haven’t done much for the past two days except running errands for my mum.
Seems like she accumulates a bunch of tasks for me to run when I am back. First it’s taking my 18 year old brother out to take passport pictures, then it’s fixing her fax machine at home and helping her to open a stock broker account.
Looking on the bright side, will have the car for tonight and tomorrow, will try to make my time well spent.

My laptop was fixed overnight, that was incredible, I think whoever runs the Asus support department deserves some credit. Even though they subcontract the operation to external service providers, they still manage to keep things snappy instead of being tied up in all kind bureaucratic red tape.
Singapore’s Asus support told me it’d be at least 3-5 working days. The Asus guy in Taiwan told me to expect the laptop to be fixed in the same week, when the laptop was sent on a Thursday. They definitely keep to their words and got it done on Friday.
Been taking public transport to get around these few days, I noticed that I actually have a direct bus to the heart of Taipei from home. The bus stand is just across the road from where I live. Interestingly, the bus here charge people somewhat differently. Some of the buses only require you to pay when you are about to alight. But the bus has two exits, what if someone enters from the front and exits from the rear without paying?

Laptop was down yesterday so I didn’t manage to post. Sent it in for repair today, was told that it will take a weel to be fixed. Will write a make up post for it soon.
Been back for about 24 hours and the most significant change for me here in Taiwan is that I tend to consume an obscene amount of food here. I really think it’s got something to do with the 7-11s here. I rave about them everytime I am back. They really should have something like this in Singapore as well. Readily accessable food and drink for the lazy. Not to mention the assortment of online games they have at store shelves.
And the bookstores. Really, I miss having such a vareity of Chinese books available for browsing. Borders and Kinokuniya in Singapore are both good, just that they lack the Chinese collection. But I guess Singapore makes up with the glam and accessible libraries that it possesses. Taiwan has much to learn in this aspect, I am sure that the public can benefit from a better library system akin to the Singapore’s. Devote funds into this kind of public projects is far better than wasting it on the endless digging and filling of the roads.
Any way I might be showing up at the anti Ma Ying Jiu protest sometime soon, since it will be the 100th day since he was sworn into office on 20th May. The deep green pro independence suporters are gonna gather real soon at Taipei. Maybe I can take some interesting pictures while I am there. Stay tuned.
Oh and I have not forgotten about the promised food pictures, just that I haven’t had any that’s worth taking. Unless you fancy looking at 7-11 bentos.

Some pictures from last Saturday’s date with Jiaying.

Had dinner at Tonkichi! Meal paid for by Jiaying. Goes a long way towards my survival. One of the better katsu that I had. Definitely worth checking out if you have never been to Tonkichi before.
The convention had more dolls and Wii than comics. I think the organizers have problems telling these apart. The dolls were nice though.

My personal favourite.

Of course what is a Comic Con without the infamous Japanese mecha models?
Who can forget the classic EVA series?

And the retro lighter bot from the ’80s! I am not sure which came first though, transformer or this, but I am pretty sure that they are from the same era! Any way, they are both of Japanese origin. Bet you didn’t know transformers are Japanese.

He has a family too! Lighterbots unite!

That’s all I found interesting at the convention.

It’s been three weeks since I got back here, but frankly speaking I don’t really remember what I have done.
I’ve been to 高雄 for two days to see if I could find my nanny. Unfortuantely she has already moved to another place. Though I am amazed at myself for remembering an address that is twenty years old. Surprisingly, everything remained pretty much the same as I recall. Even the auntie at the salon downstairs rememebered me from decades ago.
Other than that, it’s pretty much the same here, night market, super convienent 7-11, fantastic chinese book stores etc. Not to mention the motorcycle rides. I am seriously considering returning to Taiwan for good. It feels just right after a while.
